Our names are Soomin and Celia, and we want to welcome you to The World Through YOUth! We met in the middle of the Arctic as participants of the Students On Ice 2017 Arctic Expedition. After our usual early morning yoga and tea on the deck session, we were talking about current events happening around the world and discussing our perspectives.

 

While talking, we quickly realized that many times, we forget that the news on TV and the internet are things actually affecting REAL people just like you and me. In a world full of constant misunderstanding and ignorance, we forget that we are slowly becoming more desensitized towards events. Then we also realized that we are constantly fed what is happening just from the media's perspectives and we are rarely exposed to stories of the REAL people living through the event and are being affected. That is when the idea of this website came to be.

Our goal is to be able to expose more diverse perspectives from the youth and get others to be aware of the effects an event has locally and raise awareness.

 

Each year, we will be rotating through the continental regions and fundraising and donating all the proceeds to a local organization to help a critical issue that needs to be addressed voted by The World Through YOUth users.
