A word for people of my age, my generation

Here's a speech from Xavier Dolan, a talented young film producer, who inspired us and will undoublty inspire you !

Dear Youth,

Our names are Soomin and Celia, and we want to welcome you to The World Through YOUth! We met in the middle of the Arctic as participants of the Students On Ice 2017 Arctic Expedition.

After our usual early morning yoga and tea on the deck session, we were talking about current events happening around the world and discussing our perspectives.

While talking, we quickly realized that many times, we forget that the news on TV and the internet are things actually affecting REAL people just like you and me. In a world full of constant misunderstanding and ignorance, we forget that we are slowly becoming more desensitized towards events. Then we also realized that we are constantly fed what is happening just from the media's perspectives and we are rarely exposed to stories of the REAL people living through the event and are being affected. That is when the idea of this website came to be.

Our goal is to be able to expose more diverse perspectives from the youth and get others to be aware of the effects an event has locally and raise awareness.

We also realised that most young people (we) are not given the opportunity to make their (our) voices heard.

Therefore, with this website, we want to be able to give youth a platform where they can share, denounce, scream, be inspired and inspire : WHERE THEY CAN CHANGE THE WORLD...

We will be posting an article on this website twice a week. On Wednesdays, Soomin or I will write on youth making a difference around the world or on how YOU can make a change. On weekends, we will post an article, or video, or piece art created by one of you, who is making a difference at its own scale.

If you would like to have your story posted or know someone who would, please do not hesitate to send it to us at theworldthroughyouth@gmail.com ! Your submission can be in whatever medium you wish to present your perspectives in, whether it be through writing, videos, art, photography, etc…

Please share this post so a friend, a classmate, or a family member can use TWTY as a platform to share their voice!

Each year, we will try to rotatethrough the continental regions and fundraising and donating all the proceeds to a local organization to help a critical issue that needs to be addressed voted by The World Through YOUth users.

Bienvenue sur 'The World Through Youth', 'Le monde à travers les jeunes'.

The World Through Youth est une plateforme où vous pouvez partager votre opinion, denoncer, être inspiré, inspirer : changer le monde.

On postera deux fois par semaine un article sur le site. Les Mercredis, un article sur des jeunes qui changent le monde ou des manières dont vous vous pouvez faire la difference. Les Weekends, on postera vun article, une vidéo, de l'art, réalisé par l'un d'entre vous et qui change le monde (même si c'est à petite échelle).

Cela peut être par exemple, un projet que vous avez lançé qui change le monde, un article où vous dénoncez un événement qui vous affecte personnellement et qui est mal relaté dans les médias, dans lequel vous donnez votre point de vue personnel etc.

Votre travail peut prendre n'importe quelle forme : article écrit, photo, vidéo...
